Is it spring yet?
In the fall I was so excited to have a winter of temperatures that dipped below 40 degrees, but after months of cold I am so ready for spring! It seems like once Christmas and New Year's pass, we are all just suffering through the last few uninspiring months of winter and waiting for spring to begin again. Most of February was just too chilly to wear anything except sweatpants and Nike cold gear. At one point I even considered quitting all of my jobs and staying home until May. (It was a sensible thought at the time.) So, in hopes of coaxing spring to come sooner rather than later, I'm dressing for the weather I want. And it's all about the layers.
I started with two pieces most every woman has in her closet: a white oxford and black or dark jeans. Transition piece #1 that will get you through the last weeks of winter: the sweater duster. I love the idea of a sweater duster for spring. As a person who still gets cold when it's 70 degrees out, I tend to gravitate toward anything blanket-like that is still socially acceptable to wear in public. And this sweater does the trick. It's not too heavy, but still weighted enough to layer over dresses and tights or blouses and jeans and keep you warm. It could even be worn over shorts and ankle booties for a boho look come summertime! It comes in white and this grey color, which means either one will go with everything you already have!
On to transition piece #2: the shootie. The open toed-shoe boot is something that not even the amazing Kreskin could have predicted. It sounds ridiculous yet it is here and it is wonderful. Though I love this pair for it's comfortability and soft leather, almost everyone is coming out with a pair this spring. Wear them to work, to go shopping, to lunch, out with your friends, literally anywhere.
So think positive thoughts with me, and dress for the weather you want!
