Monday Inspiration (On Wednesday)

Devol Kitchens

I’m just now getting around to posting my weekly inspiration round up... and it’s Wednesday. The hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving last week (and a last minute decision to retile the fireplace before Christmas this year) made for a busy couple of days. Our Thanksgiving was quiet and small but I always tend to enjoy a smaller gathering so much more. As much as I love the holiday season, I think it’s always important to step back and remember that not everything has to be perfect to have a perfect holiday. Things can be just as wonderful and magical when it’s quiet as when it’s full of commotion.

Here are a few images I found this week that are fueling a burning desire of mine to go live out in the country. As a chronic introvert who has to make an absolute and mindful effort in social settings, I recharge in peaceful surroundings, and a home out in the country sounds more and more appealing by the day. It’s hard to image not living with the convenience we have now, but the little thought that was once in the very back of my head (which quietly crept into my thoughts driving back and forth between Austin and Dallas for school) has grown into a full blown dream. The handprinted walls, all-over prints and beautiful artwork all lend themselves to such cozy and unique spaces that are warm and inviting and ask that you stay and rest for a while. I know I’d never leave that blue gingham library (designed by Sarah Bartholomew) if it were mine.

Would you leave convenience behind to live a quiet life in the country?
