My Dream Kitchen + Our Kitchen Refresh Plans

There are so many things I love about this kitchen by Lauren Deloach Interiors I don’t know where to start! I’ve loved this kitchen for years after seeing it in the Atlanta Southeastern Showhouse Home Tour from 2017, but until this past weekend I haven’t been able to find any high-res photos of it sans watermark.

Every element of this kitchen comes together to create something that is cozy but bright, comfortable yet stylish, traditional but updated, with no shortage of blue and white from the paint colors to the fabrics used throughout the space. The incredible brass range is a showstopper, and I loved how it picks up the warmth of the brass cabinet hardware, which pops against Farrow And Ball’s Light Blue. Of every element though, the sink area is my favorite. From the incredible arched window, to the farmhouse sink, buffet lamps and antique plates lining the wall to the pantry.

There are so many design elements I’d like to apply to our kitchen…which if you know me, has already seen quite a few updates. We installed new counters and backsplash several years ago, and we painted the cabinets white. However, since that time, we’ve replaced the floors, so the baseboards were all removed. We also replaced the window above the sink as well as the mudroom windows in the same space, so that trim needs to be painted. We’ve talked about building a small hall tree in the mudroom on an empty wall, so that would need to be painted too. There are areas on our cabinets where paint is peeling and needs to be touched up. And last but certainly not least, we replaced the stair trends, balusters and railing of our staircase that enters into the kitchen and mudroom area, so those all have to be painted too.

So with all that being said, it’s likely we’ll be repainting our kitchen, again, and I’m having a serious internal debate about using Farrow And Ball’s Light Blue, or keeping everything white!

I have loved having white cabinets these past couple of years. Our kitchen doesn’t get a ton of natural light, so keeping things bright is very important. Currently, the cabinets, counters and backsplash are all white, and it feels so much lighter than it originally did. However, white shows more grime and dirt than any other color cabinet. And our style of cabinet doors (which haven’t changed from the prior owners) is pillowed, meaning its difficult to install hardware, meaning we are constantly touching the white cabinets with hands that aren’t perfectly cleaned. Changing the cabinet fronts would certainly be a larger project though, so I’m not sure if we’ll be going down that road yet!

Do you love an all white kitchen? Or do you love a pop of color? I’d love to know!
